Motors Oh My!

The motors unit at East End House was an excellent chance for the kids to keep developing their skills at electronics, while also engaging in a bunch of engineering to iterate on designs that worked.

With the younger kids we worked on scribble bots:

While weird cockroackes prooved at hit at all grade levels:

But the highlight were the propellor-powered cars. The kids worked on these for a few weeks, and they required a fair bit of engineering, some experimentation (given only one battery, do two propellors work better than one? What size blades are best?), a touch of soldering for some, and a lot of racing fun for all.

For kids who wanted to participate, we had a final racing tournament, with medals awarded.
